A Perfect Weekend in Edinburgh: A 2-Day Stag & Hen Itinerary
Most groups land in Edinburgh with a rough plan and a lot of enthusiasm, and then lose half of Saturday deciding what to do. Here is a two-day itinerary that takes that decision off the table. We build weekends like this every week, so it is paced the way a real group actually moves: not too crammed, with room for the unplanned bits that end up being the best part.
Friday: arrive and warm up
Check in, drop the bags, and stay close to base for the first night. If you have booked somewhere central like the Grassmarket or Old Town, everything is on your doorstep.
- Grab an early dinner as a group. Book ahead: a table for 15 on a Friday does not just appear.
- Ease into the night with a guided pub crawl. It is the easiest way to run the first night, because someone else handles the route and the door queues while everyone gets to know each other again.
- Finish in the Cowgate, where most of the late bars sit. Our best bars guide has the picks.
Saturday: the main event
The big day. Pick one daytime activity that suits the group and build the rest around it.
- Morning: a proper activity gets everyone out of bed and talking. Adrenaline groups go for clay pigeon shooting; a more relaxed crowd leans toward a whisky tasting. Hen groups often start with a bottomless brunch instead.
- Afternoon: something daft and Scottish. Our mini highland games has a group tossing the caber and throwing wellies, and it is impossible to take seriously.
- Evening: dinner, then out. Start with a few bars, then on to one of the nightclubs around the Cowgate and Grassmarket. Keep a big group together with a party bus between stops.
Sunday: the slow goodbye
Nobody wants a 9am start on Sunday. Keep it gentle.
- A long brunch and a wander. Climb Arthur's Seat if the group is feeling brave, or just walk the Royal Mile.
- Late checkout is worth asking for. Then everyone drifts to the airport or Waverley in their own time.
What about the budget?
The honest answer is that it depends on the group size, the accommodation and how hard you go on Saturday night. Rather than guess, tell us your numbers and we will put a real figure in front of you. Our packages bundle the accommodation, activities and the night out into one price per person, so you see the full cost up front with nothing hidden.
