Why Edinburgh Is One of the UK's Best Stag & Hen Destinations
Every group weighing up where to go asks the same question: which city gives us the best weekend for the money? We are biased, we have been running trips here since 1998, but Edinburgh keeps winning that argument, and here is why.
It is small enough to do on foot
This is the underrated one. Edinburgh's Old Town packs the bars, the restaurants and most of the late venues into a walkable few streets. That means no taxis between the activity, dinner and the night out, and a group that never gets split up. Compared with sprawling cities where you spend half the weekend in transit, that matters more than people expect.
The nightlife punches above its weight
For a city its size, Edinburgh has a serious night out. The Cowgate alone is a run of bars and nightclubs within a couple of minutes of each other, and there are proper cocktail bars and whisky bars if you want something more grown-up. A guided pub crawl ties it all together.
The activities range from daft to adrenaline
Whatever the group is into, it is here. Clay pigeon shooting and white water rafting for the adrenaline crowd, whisky tasting and mini highland games for a laugh, and plenty in between. Browse the full activities list to see the spread.
It is genuinely Scottish
You are not in an anonymous stag-and-hen town. Edinburgh gives you the castle, the whisky, the ceilidhs and the accent, which makes for a better weekend and better photos. It is a proper place, not a party factory.
It is easy to get to
Edinburgh Airport connects to most of the UK and Europe, and Waverley station sits right in the centre for anyone coming by train. A group arriving from different cities can meet in one place without much fuss.
